I had my first ever case of Transcortical Motor Aphasia today. I saw its face, like a reflection in a mirror that knows, but doesn't quite recognize, its own reflection. I heard its voice, and heard the insistence with which it wants to be understood. I felt its touch, its desperation. I've been replaying it in my head, over and over, unable to forget. Wondering what it must be like, and wondering what lengths one must go to overcome.
I am fascinated. What once was whole is now broken, and all I can think of is how best to reassemble it.
